4 Steps
1) calm the mind down
2) put your attention to animal
3) ask yourself how can I best describe the feeling
4) how can I best describe it in more detail

How can I best describe it: may be an image; a word; a feelng
How to put your attention fully on an animal
calmed mind down
imagined animal (eg the photo or memory - the essence of the animal)
called their name until felt you had their full attention - ie we were really putting OUR full attnetion on them.
ie we connected to the essence of the animal (ie he was in the room but slept on).
then we delivered a very strong feeling - I love you
then we felt a strong feeling coming back
if you felt the love, then felt pain straight away afterwards - that's your pain that has to move, that's unconditional love and it will clear you.
if working with an animal that has passed on - in the grieving process, is to remember the animal with love.
gradually the pain will come up and overtime doing it again - the pain will get less and less and the love more and more - remembering them in love. (if still remembering the 'bad' parts - you are still grieving.
Clearing exercise (for grieving)...
I then repeated the above exercise with Jess
[I still had a strong emotion of so sorry - ie blame - so it was hard to do the exercise ie of the love between us - ??that was being blocked with my emotion of blame?? - James suggests keep doing the exercise and over time the love to and from the animal will come through as the emotion decreases???]
ie I had two feelings there love and blame - ie it was part of MY process - so if I keep going with the exercie 2/3 times, that will start clearing, and then I will feel the love at the beginning.
We get present so that we are no longer our own feelings.
ADVICE
Even if you don't think you can feel anything - still ask - how can I best describe that in more detail...
even if nothing comes up ask the question again - this keeps the focus with the animal...
the only thing that will stop you - is doubt (self-doubt) - takes you back into yourself.
keeping your attention with the anilmal will eliminate your doubt.
