We have all been conditioned over centuries to believe such things as the boss theory, pressure methods, animals don’t have feelings and that somehow your animal is competing against you. This stems from the judgement of “bad” behaviour which needs correction and reprimand. The problem here is that behaviour is only the outward expression of something else, which is happening on a deeper level and that is how your animal is FEELING.
Either consciously or subconsciously you will be sharing these feelings. It will more than likely be expressed by you as one or as a combination of these emotions. Frustration, anger, worry, guilt, embarrassment, helplessness, despair, anxiety and the list goes on.
This creates a gap between how you truly feel about your animal, the love you have for them and the way you are reacting to them. It is this separation that causes the most pain in the relationship!Â
The key to making fast and long-lasting positive change is to help them let go of fear and build trust and confidence in you and his or her surroundings.
The Trust Technique® is a mindful approach to help your animal and yourself. A simple way to develop a peaceful connection with trust and confidence. By changing the negative feelings you are sharing.

Yes
The Trust Technique was developed to help the sensitive animals that the other approaches have not been able to help. Because the animals’ opinion is fully regarded it means that the animal is not placed in a position to be pressured. This then helps them trust and build confidence in you.

Ich bin sehr begeistert und freue mich auf den Kurs. Neugierig darauf wie meine Tiere darauf reagieren.
I am very excited and looking forward to the course. Curious about how my animals react to it.
I got a new horse who is a 3 year old mustang. He was a criptorchid so has some extra hormones making him feel very studly. I sent him to a trainer who did very well with him for 2 months. When he first arrived to me, he did pretty will and I was working to teach him to be comfortable in the trailer, and to lead and go forward when asked. We spent time learning to be tied and groomed and saddled. After 3 weeks, he began rearing up with me and he was not doing that well with the leading exercises. He also began nipping at me. I realized that this horse could read all of my thoughts. At the trainer, they really enjoyed him and thought he was very sweet and wanted to be good. He never reared, nipped or set back against being tied. When I got him back home, after a week, he began rearing up again and biting at me. He always hung his penis out when I was around. He had me pretty scared and feeling uncomfortable around him. The trainer came to help me and we changed only a few little things and he got a bit better with me, but continued to have the penis out and nip at me. I still did not feel comfortable around him. The first day I tried the trust technique, I did use a stick at my side to help me feel safe. If he kept a healthy distance from me I would scratch him with the stick. Within 30 minutes of having my mind slow down and focus on peacefulness. The mustang laid down next to me and put his head on my lap. The next day I hung out with him, but I had a couple of phone calls that interrupted our work. The third day I hung out with him outside of the fence for 30 min and he relaxed but after half an hour left to go nibble on hay. I entered the pen and he engaged with me. I tried a bit of liberty stuff with him. I learned how to stop when things were not going as I intended, refocus, and retry. The session was an hour long and we did very well. I will continue for several more days and hope to get him to lay down with me again. Then I will continue to work with him on ground manners, grooming, hoof work, and leading in the arena. I found the experience very rewarding.
This is a great introduction that leaves you wanting more.
The introduction to the Trust Technique course was so interesting and it made a lot of sense. I signed up for the next course!
I thought the messages of trust was a fantastic introcudtion to your main course and I thoroughly enjoyed practicing presence and strengthening my level of presence. This is something I shall do daily, I have practiced it before whilst working with Eckhart Tolle’s techniques but I haven’t been able to access presence in such a simple way before. The way you break it down is fantastic and really makes it achievable. I cried while watching the story of Ares the Lion, what a beautiful and touching story. Thank you for the incredible work you do. You are an inspiration 🙂
I loved this introduction to the Trust Technique. I found the presentation very clear, friendly, and inspiring. James is a very engaging and gentle teacher, with lovely energy and humour in his delivery. The video examples were very moving and highlighted the benefits and joys of building a relationship with animals. There are so many layers of the technique to consider here, not only in our relationship with animals but also in our relationship with ourselves. This approach relies very much on working with self, and conveys the power of healing in the natural relationships around us. In an overly reactive world it was a really valued experience to witness proactive connections with an intent to restore an animals wellbeing. A beautiful illustration of compassionate heart-work.
