Using CD 3
Using the execises
Keeping your focus
On the animal and not yourself ie picking up on the animal's feelings and not your own.
Real Now, photo of animal, attention of that animal, using senses to stay present - calm, confident feeling focus on animal. etc etc
You have to recognise when your mind starts thinking and bringing your attention to you and not the animal...
use the tools:
ie bring attention to the senses to return to presence;
the feeling focus - keep you on track feeling the animal - ie say to self - this needs my feeling focus - hold the feeling even if you don't think you have it and ask: 'how can I best describe that feeling' - your attention will still be on attention of animal.
use words to keep the flow of communiction going - how, where, when, why... get more depth of info doing this.
Message from Sunday
(James' mentor is a dog called Sunday)
[Hmmm, can my mentor be Doug?]
Glass is both half full and half empty
Something more important than right and wrong
So, ask the questions, write down every little feeling that you get back, no thinking/questioning right or wrong, then share that with the human to get feedback.
Imagination Now Communication
Real Now Communication
What parts are accurate etc.
Read out everything written put from the imagnation now, the real now and the flow writing - feedback is on everything that is correct.
ONLY THOSE THINGS THAT WERE ACCURATE.
Carer then gives verbal feedback on everything that came up.
State which techniques you used - then share - all you need from carer is how much was accurate.
Of course it can be nerve wracking.
You are likley to be surprised on how much you got accurate.
The human may want to ask you more questions - answer if you are OK with that.
Working with your own animals.
Once have done other people's animals and you have evidence that it is real from their feedback - you have gained confidence - then focus using CD 3 with your own animals [imagination now, real now, flow writing].
Doesn't have to be to find out all the big questions of life, not need to know all about their fears/problems, itd the small things that can be the big things in life... just be present with them - share quiet, calm space with them.
Communication is just sharing feelings
Opens up a new world wit animal - if animal stressed, you share a feeling of calm and if your feelng of calm is stronger than their feeling of stress, they will follow you naturally.
The strongest feeling is the teacher.
Showing animals how to feel during those situations builds trust and connection.
If training your anmial, clearly explain to them what you are doing - don't have to say it out load so everyone else can hear - imagine it in your mind - show them what you would like them to do - AND more importantly, how you would both like to feel about it.
Explain what you/they are going to learn, why [eg so we can both enjoy the walk and new connection with the human etc].
Keeping present, showing confidence, having calmness - is the way to teach the animal - the clearer you are with your feelings going out - the easier it is going to be for picking up inforamton coming back.
Both focussed on the feeling.
If you've explained to the animal what you are going to do in the training session and then you get a knotted feeling in your stomach whilst you are doing it - its a good indication of maybe how the animal is feeling about what you are suggesting - [may need to low down or shorter session etc.]
Keep it real - don't have to ask crazy, silly questions all the time just becasue you have this communication tool.
Just be present with them and let the communication arise naturally for you both.
The more you practice, the better you will become.
'communication muscle' - can be tring but gets easier.
