We're made up of the physical, spiritual and emotional.
physical: that physical stuff
Emotions: are when we 'think'.
spiritual: The best and the clearest way is to say its the 'non thought' the gaps between the thinking. It's peaceful there, in those gaps.

The Trust Technique is a combination of both Healing and Communication.
In the healing part, we are creating a peaceful mind state which we are bringing the animal into.Â
The body is that physical stuff, the emotions are feelings and thinking. Spiritual are the non thoughts. The peaceful 'nothing'. No thoughts are being produced. We move the animal past the 'thinking' into the gaps of non thinking. peaceful.
10 is panicky.
down to level 4 is a relaxed animal.
3...sleepy....
2....eyes closed and opening...
1...eyes closed.
0 ....trance-like state. Not sleeping as much as trance. The twitching and little sounds, is releasing, and that is HEALING.

You do have to stay non reactive to your own doubts to stay listening and able to hear your pet.
As example. Putting your attention on the horse, you ask yourself, 'how can I best describe how he is feeling physically?
(wrote a bunch of stuff saved it, then the computer went wonky and all is lost there) so moving on....
AC:Â
The communication is rather than focusing on the spot, you focus on the pet now...
It doesn't matter what part of the animal you look at. Could be their body, around their head or even just a paw, as long as your attention is on them.
Â
The step 3 is possibly the most important part.Â
So, you are focused,
your mind is quiet,
you've moved your attention to them, and at that point I believe on a subconscious level, YOU HAVE ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT THEM.
So, the step 3 is asking, 'How can you best describe the feeling.'
And so you ask yourself, 'How can I best describe this feeling?'
At the beginning you might not be aware of any feeling at all. That does not mean that its not there. It's jus that you are not aware of it yet.Â
So when you first ask this question, you might not get a response.
Now 2 things can happen at this point.Â
1) You can keep your attention with the animal.
2) Or your attention comes back into you. The reason it will come back into you, is you are doubting...
If you are asking, how can I best describe this feeling? And nothing comes up straight away, it would be very easy for you to go, 'Oh it's not working, what's James talking about, I can't do this!" Â
Guess what? Your attention will have moved from the animal and it will be right back into your own mind creating your own feelings through doubt. So yes, you won't be connecting, you won't be communicating as in picking up feelings.
So how do you keep your attention with the animal, bypassing all your doubts?Â
Simple. When you ask yourself how can I best describe this feeling, if nothing comes up, then the next question you ask yourself is: 'Hmmm, this is a sensitive feeling. How can I best describe it? And you keep asking yourself that question.Â
What this does is it keeps your attention with the animal. Rather than it coming back into you.Â
This step 3 will give you an initial feeling. And its that you can ask questions on to go further and into more detail.Â
Once you have the overall feeling of the animal, its very easy to get more details, by asking, hmmm, how can I best describe that feeling, physically?  How can I best describe that feeling as their character?Â
