By giving a framework to look at a problems, the problem becomes less scary and therefore easier to take on. The 'what' and 'how' process gives a chance to develop a solution in stages, which again is not too daunting. Suddenly realisation dawns and problems morph into opportunities.
It is also a chance to be kind to yourself, by working back to the historic source of hang-ups and remove them to forestall future problems.
