I was drawn to The Trust Technique video course by a friend and fellow horse owner and, once enrolled, I have not looked back. At first I was concerned that it was taking me some time to work through all the topics, until I heard James’ voice in my mind concerning animals: “We must go at their pace.” I realized that this advice applies to us too. We are so conditioned to rush through life today, and with predictable consequences!

The learning in the course is very well organized. The more I got into the details, the more I appreciated the way it is introduced, which is incrementally. This also makes it easy to return to an earlier lesson and go over it again, how ever often it is needed.

By far the most valuable lessons are in the nuances, which James so expertly presents in the videos and which take time to absorb. I quickly realized that his teaching skill is in his ability to go into those nuances, both in terms of the subtle changes we can adopt in the way we think of a lesson to best accommodate the animal’s needs and understanding, as well as in the signals we pick up from the animal. These two are closely related, of course, and again, James’ advice to go at the animals’s pace is key.

I am now having a good rate of success with offering the present moment to my horse and my cat and working with that, and also with wild deer who are my winter visitors here in Canada. I am now having a go with a bonded pair of wild pigeons. We’ll see how that goes!

I started with the Messages of Trust and then the Video Course. It has been a truly wonderful experience, so much so that I am now embarking on the Practitioner Course. In the Video Course I started with the dog section as I no longer have horses but the whole course was a deep learning experience, no matter what animal. In fact, the bears and horses I found to be the most enlightening in seeing their progression. What a beautiful world we would live in if all beings were truly understood and listened to. Thank you!

This video course makes me want to learn more and I can’t wait for the practitioner course!

Dear Friends, you have given me a vocabulary for expressing things that I have long intuited. And it has opened my eyes wider to the lives and emotions of our non-human animal friends. It has also saddened me for the suffering that is inflicted on them daily, chiefly due to human cruelty and ignorance. But I do feel more hopeful, and I intend to devote more time to sharpening these skills and introducing others to what I have learned in this course.
