i absolutely love the Trust Technique. it has had such a profound effect on my animals and myself. We are all experiencing so much peace in our daily lives. This course has been what I have been searching for in my journey to embrace the human/animal connection and bond. It has strengthened my dog and I relationship and it has changed my horse training business and given me another approach to building trust and partnership. Thank you!!! This is truly a blessing.
The Trust Technique (TT) is a life-changer, both for the animal and the human. My story: I volunteer for the Animal Control Shelter in Gloucester, VA and discovered I have a real knack for helping feral dogs. Word of my work got to Goochland County and Springer Farm where misbehaving dogs end up to be evaluated - the final evaluation. The president of that organization contacted me about an aggressive dog they had that they felt acted more like a feral dog. With my background, they hoped I could help this girl that no one could touch. I drove to Springer Farm to meet her and made the decision to foster her. She was on Prozac and couldn't be groomed or vetted - she wouldn't allow anyone to touch her. She was 1 year and 3 months. Previously to learning the TT, I tried everything. I had read countless books and took countless courses, tried deferring exercises, hired an aggression expert - all in the hopes of helping my very fearful, aggressive springer, Teak. Nothing worked until the TT. Teak was so sensitive it took many sessions in very small doses but finally, I saw a change in her eyes. The TT was working. She was gaining in confidence and trust and started to realize her way of protecting herself had no real purpose in her life with me. It was a milestone I never believed would come. And the part of the TT that totally resonated with me is that Teak was in control through Mindful Regard of her own emotional healing. We spent hours in the principles of the TT and our lives were forever changed. The bond - the connection - the intuition that she and I feel together fills our lives with joy, comfort, confidence and trust that has no bounds.
I've fostered many dogs over the last few years, taking them in when they first get rescued by the local animal welfare group and helping them to rehabilitate until they are ready to go to their forever homes. They always arrive in very poor physical condition and often deeply traumatised. Kindness, patience, and routine can work wonders but I have always felt more could have been done to help them but didn't know how. Now, I've found it in the Trust Technique and I realise I have been looking for exactly this for years. Thank you James and Shelley, I really look forward to starting the practitioner course. I love the simplicity of the method, yet it has such depth. It has added meaning to my own meditation practice. I've always loved the nature of non-verbal communication with animals, the joy that arises when connection happens. I feel that the practitioner training will bring a new profound depth and understanding, and I feel so grateful and privileged to have been accepted onto the course and to be able to start soon.
I've found the video course to be very good. for the following reasons;
I love its authenticity, nothing is contrived or stage managed.
The structure, in which the method is explained and then followed by numerous examples and case studies, is excellent. it has really helped to consolidate my learning and understanding.
Much of it, particularly the videos of the lions and bears, is immensely moving.
I really like and benefit from James's quiet voice and steady way of speaking. The dog in my care immediately quietens down and rests as soon as she hears James's voice, as do I.
The numerous consultations are very helpful, they've answered many questions I've had.
The videos are easy to access, the website is clean and professional in its appearance, and I like the structure of marking each section as complete before moving on (although I frequently forgot to mark complete and needed to go back through the videos to do this at the end).
There are multiple hours of footage and I've watched for 1 to 2 hours a night over the last 2 months. I've really benefitted from this immersion. Thank you for making it so comprehensive.
What a beautiful way of working with animals, at their own pace, and by reducing my own thinking into a listening mind. My spaniel has always had what I call "Itchy brain". I have long had a meditation practice, and I also do yoga, and the two cats and my spaniel like to be there when I'm doing this, and always fall asleep. It never occurred to me to actively direct the meditative mind towards them. I have started working with my spaniel, and I do notice her stretching and itching and yawning, so I'm looking forward to seeing where this takes us.
Truly inspirational and what I have been looking for for many many years. The level of communication between myself and my horses has truly amazed me and transformed my very sensitive horse. I am learning all the time and can’t thank you enough for the amazing work you do and for giving this gift to us all. Thank you James and Shelley.
I started the video course out of curiosity. As I watched the videos I was, and I still am, impressed about the clear structure of the Trust Technique. It helps a lot to know how to help an animal to relax, not just that you know the animal should be relaxed. With the different videos, I could see many ways to apply the Trust Technique. So I think it is very good that there is a lot of videos.
Using the forum was a bit slow but the topics, questions and answers were interesting to read.
I enjoyed the Trust Technique Video Course and I am happy I bought it.
I learned so much and am so grateful. I grew up on a farm so around so many animals, but wish I had known this then. I have a feral cat that is now 7 and was still skittish around me. Although her sister was fine and loved to be petted. After practicing this method she now rubs against my legs. Loves to be patted and even runs up to me to greet me. She is still skittish if I move too quickly around her, such as standing from sitting. But she is getting better each day, I know it is small steps. I am so thankful.
On another note, I very much wanted to take this course due to having a granddaughter with fairly severe autism. I have taught my daughter this method and she has used it several times and technique seems to quiet my granddaughter down. If she does it once she quiets after meltdown, it effects her in that she laid down with her blanket. She is practicing it while she is playing etc. I am hoping that it might be helpful in preventing the complete meltdowns that autistic children have.
I have just signed up for your communications course and I look forward to learning it. I also plan to again go thru the initial videos again, and others.
Thank you so much for reminding me how very much we can help our "best friends".
I am deeply touched by the Trust Technique and impressed by its power. The present moment helps me personally a lot in my work as a body therapist - both with people and animals. In my work on the central nervous system I give the patients a lot of space, with TT this feeling is deepened even more.
Personally, TT has enabled me to find a childhood and playfulness that I was not granted as a child. I think that is why the story of Kay the bear and her friends touched me so deeply, because through TT they found their playfulness again.
I am very lucky to be part of the translation team and edit the German texts. Of course, this work also helps me to deepen my knowledge of TT, as I am once again intensively dealing with the texts and videos. Wonderful.
And I think my journey will continue and I will do the TT Practitioner.
Dear Shelley, dear James, dear TT Team, it's great that you exist! Thank you so much for your work and for sharing your knowledge.
In deep and ongoing gratitude to James, Shelley and the Trust technique team. From the first time I saw the team at The Donkey Sanctuary to today and onwards it has made gentle yet powerful changes to my own everyday life aswell as that of my animal friends. I hadn't realised that I've been searching for this for 30 years since leaving the Equine industry,
The most obvious benefit so far is that my cat no longer bites me, albeit gently, to communicate with me as he no longer has to have that level of frustration and is altogether very calm as remarked upon by the vet only this week when he cooperatively sat on the scales when she indicated them!
However my favourite ongoing changes are being made by me in response to the techniques when used for people.
The delivery via video course in small easy to follow sections works incredibly well and browsing the sections surprisingly seemed to show often an issue in my own life an animal was helped with.
The support of the forums and truly welcoming and friendly participants also enhances the learning experience.
I'm greatly looking forward to continued experience and hopefully becoming the dream .
I have loved the trust technique video course. Practicing the trust technique for people has helped me to release some old panic and frustration. Being with my puppy in the present moment and mindful regard has also helped me build a lovely connection with her and support her as she grows and finds her way in the world. Seeing James and Shelley and the folks working with the dogs, cats, horses, lions and bears has been so moving and healing and reconnected me to a deep soft and authentic part of myself. I would like to continue my learning and practice as this has been a life changing experience.
I feel as if your videos and inspiration brings me back to the natural mindfulness I had as a child, effortlessly and beautifully at the time and lost over the years.
I'm so grateful that I found the Trust Technique!
I cannot recommend this video course highly enough for anyone who would like to share a deeper, more meaningful relationship with animals, humans and themselves!
The videos explore a wide variety of animals and their behaviour patterns and provide simple yet extremely effective solutions to emotional, physical and spiritual issues. It's a wonderfully presented resource, packed with heart warming and incredibly touching videos, that can be revisited time and time again. The videos leave you in no doubt that profoundly deep and peaceful connections are possible between all living things with patience, kindness, cooperation and persistence.
This video series is a beautiful, unique and very engaging learning experience - profoundly thought provoking and truly life changing!
Thank you James, Shelley and Team!
I am totally impressed and look forward to go for the practitioner study!
This course has changed me and my dogs life forever ❤️
Hello,
this video-course, in my eyes, is phenomenal!
From its content it shows a way of what is possible in the relationship between humans and animals. The structure, that leads through the course, is build up in a heplful organized way. The recommands of James French have been clear and understandable for me. I adore with how much tenderness and warmth both, James French and Shelly Slingo, show that there is a huge amount of pleasant progress possible by finding peace! By following the single steps of this technique I found out, that it also works with my dog and me, which astonishs me again and again, because the results are perceptible and noticeable within a few minutes!
James French explains the various steps well and he shows transparently, for example, when it is the correct time to start, to continue or to stop the different instructions.
This kind of work touched my heart deeply!
Thanks a lot for your incredible dedication and for sharing!
Warmth,
Merle D´Onofrio
I have Frosty, a 25 year old white shetland pony. His left eye is brown and the right eye is blue.
In 2013 he developed laminitis. 3 vets said to put him to sleep. I decided to help him continue. He did not look like he wanted to "leave" so we dug in and did our best to keep him going. He recovered.
Over the past 10 years Frosty had his ups and downs and some very long level periods of decent health.
When I arrive daily at his stall, he is normally standing up, head is over his half door, he nickers, wants his carrot then wants out of the stall when the carrot is gone.
This past November, two days before Thanksgiving, I arrived at the barn and he was down in his stall and appeared mentally gone.
He had rapid breathing with long non breathing pauses and weird whole body twitches at times. Frost is a boarded horse and the barn owner thought it was time to PUT HIM DOWN!. I sat next to him and watched awhile. I decided to try Quantum Energetics repairs (a type of energy work I do) to see if he would come out of whatever was causing him to appear as though he was on the way out. His kidneys were insufficient and his vagus nerve was inflamed. He required just two repairs, 1 for the kidneys and 1 for the vagus nerve. The repairs worked!
I observed him for about 10 minutes, and watched his eyes open and the lights were on again! He looked at me, shook his head, looked left and right as though to say, "where the heck was I when you arrived?!!" He then stood up and shook himself off then proceeded to whip open his stall door and wobbled his way outside.
Here is where the Trust Technique comes in. I had just started to practice the technique I had learned online. Frosty provided an opportunity for more practice and amazement. He was weak for a few days after he skipped his "check out time". He wanted to stay in his stall more rather than go walk about the farm grounds. So, I sat in his stall with him and practiced "staring". WELL, he responded to it! He slowly nodded off, then he lay prone and went into a deep asleep. We did this at about 2 o'clock for three days. After the third day in a row of it, he was back to his usual routine of greeting and going out to wander the farm grounds, visiting with the mares and his stallion buddies once again from his side of the fence. Now, he will lie down to signal he wants to do the Trust Technique rather than go outside, so we sit in his stall to stare and he snoozes. I should mention that Frosty has his own cat named Iris. She is white also. She sleeps under his manger in his stall. The first day we did the stare for Frost after his short lived unwell episode, she crawled out and sat on my ankles and purred the whole time with her eyes closed. Another cat, a wild tom cat new to the barn, happened to pass by the open stall door. He stopped, looked in, then walked in and looked up at my face then at the purring Iris. He crawled into my lap and began doing flips until I petted him then let him stay on my lap. He too began to purr. Then 3 other cats came into the stall and lay on opposite sides of Frosty purring. I was amazed and pleased with my cat buddies! We all sat there with Frost for about 2 hours doing on and off staring while he lay stretched out deeply snoozing, off in some other realm. We continue to do this on the occasional days now when Frost just wants to lay rather than wander the farm . He really seems to get a charge from it which keeps him going to visit his farm friends. I am very surprised by the results for Frosty and so pleased as well!
So grateful that I found your technique. The insights I have experience from learning your work go deep within, changing my own expression with life. I knew it was special as it requires the simplest instructions to begin…. Every single person on this planet recognizes their lack at communication. The tools we are offered cause so much grief. This beautiful method….this amazing bag of tools for communication is life changing if you allow…
And it's really good for animals!! Bless!
Awe me and Cleo my cat loved this course, I bought it some months earlier after watching the initial video:
Messages of Trust as I was so touched and moved I wanted to support this gentle, simple yet highly powerful program for the Trust teams future projects so I purchased the next TT Video Course.
Cleo was at her end of life stage and through this program I learned how anxious she was (I thought it was just me) and thinking back she had been over the years, I only wish I paid attention more when I connected with the Trust-Techniques; Message of Trust introduction first time around 2007 ish. Where I could have improved the lives of the other animals I had at the time, I can see where things could have been more peaceful with this practice. Hindsight! Clarity is such a gift...
We had some unforgettable deep moments, between Cleo and I during her final weeks, a closeness on another level, there was such emotion and other beautiful feelings, that I was privileged to feel. Cleo was 18 when she moved on, that last day she slept so soundly and so relaxed, I hadn't seen her like that for a while (her kidneys was troubling her)
Ive used many many products to release emotions, heal, improve state of mind over the years etc, Reiki is a wonderful tool I enjoy very much, but this is on another level...
Highly recommend it, my own life has improved so much and my focus is now Peace of Mind.
Thank you Trust technique team for bringing this public. Its a true blessing.
Lots of love
Anne-Marie
What a wonderful tool to connect and be with the animals. I`ve already had so many touching moments with the horses and donkeys in the shelter I am working as a volunteer. They love being in the Present Moment and I love sharing this moment with them. It makes us immensely happy. Thank you!
